Patient Care Coordinator

The Patient Care Specialist (PCS) facilitates an excellent patient experience and supports clinic operations based on expert or specialized knowledge for the assigned prosthetics and/or orthotics medical practice. Primary responsibilities include greeting and registering patients, compiling complete chart documentation, and supporting clinical and technical staff. Responsibilities include answering the telephone and responding to inquiries or directing calls, scheduling appointments, verifying and updating patient demographics, referral source and insurance information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), obtaining copies of insurance cards and other documentation, maintaining complete patient records, initiating documentation requests from healthcare providers, verifying patient insurance benefits, collecting patient payments, maintaining a clean and safe environment, taking patient height and weight, preparing treatment rooms, providing administrative support, assisting in marketing efforts, maintaining professional relationships, participating in ongoing training, analyzing administrative support needs, obtaining prior authorizations, assisting in pricing items, providing administrative guidance on insurance coverage, supporting junior peers, and performing other duties as assigned. The role requires ethical conduct, problem solving, communication proficiency, computer proficiency, excellent interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. The work environment is a professional office using standard office equipment. Physical demands include talking, hearing, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, bending, and squatting. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, minimum 3 years of medical office experience using EMR systems or equivalent job complexity, and preferred experience in healthcare industry.
