Pacific Defense is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Manager to spearhead day-to-day manufacturing engineering activities. This candidate will be responsible for managing a team of engineers, overseeing the design of manufacturing processes and specifications aimed at enhancing the efficiency and productivity of our manufacturing operations. They will play a pivotal role in the creation and execution of the Productivity Improvement Program, utilizing their extensive technical knowledge and project management skills for effective project planning, budget management, and methodology development. Furthermore, the candidate will oversee coordinating various aspects of business planning, including proposal work statements, operating budgets, and contract terms and conditions. Their role will encompass the implementation of New Product Introduction (NPI) and the establishment of design concepts, product specifications, and manufacturing engineering criteria.

Requirements

Manufacturing experience in Electronic Assemblies, Modules/PCBAs
Extensive experience working with contract manufacturing partners including the design and set-up of test equipment, and sharing of in-house processes and procedures
Comfortable operating in a start-up company where many processes need to be developed from scratch or greatly enhanced
Experience managing and administering PLM software (Arena) ensuring production BOM accuracy and manufacturability
Experience operating in a factory with the dual mission of producing engineering builds as well as full-rate production builds of complex systems
Be a hands-on leader expected to be as skilled as the technicians and able to quickly learn product configuration and technology
Experience with manufacturing processes like soldering, BGA, and board rework
Strong root cause and corrective action skills to drive issues to closure
Experience managing frequent product line configuration changes, effectively
Test experience at the Module and System level

Preferred Requirements

DOD experience with strong understanding of military standards
Experience implementing MRP, MES systems. Experience with Sage X3
Strong design for manufacturing experience (DFM) a plus

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing, responsible for daily production output of the factory in Sunnyvale
Hands-on leader who drives day to day manufacturing and factory and is an expert on product and software configurations, assembly, testing and rework
Manage the activities of a team of technicians responsible for production and work closely with engineers who design manufacturing processes, work instructions and specifications that will improve the efficiency, quality and productivity of the organization's manufacturing operations
Responsible for space planning, co-designing manufacturing processes, work order completion, production output, factory set-up and design, production yield, document control and BOM management for all products manufactured at the Sunnyvale site
Responsible for continuous improvement, product quality, DFM support, capturing and reporting product test and yield data, factory cleanliness, ESD and FOD compliance and maintaining 5S standards
Interfaces with Pacific Defense engineering team at all levels and ensures that documented testing and production processes are in place
Directs recruitment, placement, and evaluation of technician staff and their work products to ensure the effective deployment of talent
